Chocolate chunk cookies

४.५/5 (७६५ reviews)

Mrs. Claus's recipe, to make as a family in the Village kitchen.

  • Total time: 57 min
  • Serves 6
  • Very easy

Ingredients

Number of people: Serves 6

  • १८० g flour
  • ½ packets of baking powder
  • १ pinch of salt
  • १२० g softened butter
  • ९० g brown sugar
  • ४० g sugar
  • १ egg
  • १ tsp vanilla
  • १६० g dark chocolate in large chunks

Preparation stepsTotal time: 57 min

  1. Cream5 min

Beat the softened butter with the brown sugar and sugar for 5 minutes, until light and creamy. Count the time from when you start, and only move on once you get the result described.

  2. Egg5 min

Add the egg and vanilla, 5 more minutes. Count the time from when you start, and only move on once you get the result described. Amount for this step: 1 tsp vanilla.

  3. Chocolate5 min

Fold in the flour, baking powder and salt, then the large chocolate chunks without breaking them, 5 minutes. Count the time from when you start, and only move on once you get the result described. Amounts for this step: ½ packet of baking powder; 160 g dark chocolate in large chunks.

  4. Rest30 min

Cover and chill for 30 minutes: that's what makes thick cookies. Press plastic wrap onto the surface to stop a skin forming, and chill it away from the back wall of the fridge. This rest is part of the total time.

  5. Bake12 min

Large, well-spaced mounds, 12 minutes at 180°C. The center stays soft and the chocolate should be glossy. Preheat the oven to the temperature given, with the rack in the middle. Only open the door if the recipe says so: the dish is ready when it is golden and the time is up. Amount for this step: 160 g dark chocolate in large chunks.

Tips and variations

  • Cut the chocolate into chunks of about 2 cm, not small chips.
  • Space them well apart: they spread.
  • They keep for three days in a tin.
